Start with what you want to write today.
Based on the app feature guide and owner decisions, checked October 7, 2026. The app is not in stores yet. Menu names and locations vary by device and language.
Start a devotion
- Create a note and choose Devotion at the top of the editor. Write today's date, a verse reference, your thoughts and prayer requests.
- Select a reference such as Ps 23:1 to open the verse list or copy it. The list gathers references in Bible order, not the verse text.
- Mark a prayer checklist line as answered. The Bible panel is off by default; enable it in Purpose tools in settings if you want it. Check the translation source before quoting.
Prepare a sermon
- Choose Sermon for a new note and write the passage, main point and application. Large headings or --- divide the manuscript into pages.
- Check speaking time in the word-count view. Select an illustration and send it to the illustration shelf.
- Use Pulpit mode for large type and a timer. Keep a draft, revising, finished or preached status to help find past sermons.
Start studying
- Choose Study for a new note and write the material and key ideas.
- Select text to turn it into blanks. Reveal it in blank practice, then use recitation cards. Card practice results are not saved.
- Start the study timer and record the time in your note when done. Set a D-day for an exam. When the timer ends, it only shows on screen.
Take meeting notes
- Choose Work. Write the meeting title, date and agenda, then separate decisions from tasks.
- Add tasks with the checklist button. Bring unfinished tasks from the last meeting into the new minutes.
- Open All tasks to see checklists across notes and mark items done. Assignees and deadlines are shown there too.
Start a journal
- Choose Journal and open today's note. If a note for today exists, it opens that note.
- Write a moment from your day and add a mood line.
- See the entry calendar and revisit this day in earlier years. Reopen the view after midnight to refresh its date.
Write a manuscript
- Choose Writing. Use headings in the format bar and the outline to shape the text.
- Set a length goal for the note and use focus writing for the current paragraph. Focus writing is unavailable on Android for very long notes of roughly 100,000 characters or more.
- Save a named version before revising, then compare or restore it later. Use clean sharing to send text without formatting markers.
Frequently asked questions
Where do I choose a template?
Choose one when creating a note; the note starts with that template's purpose. Recently used templates appear below the blank-note option. The format bar adds headings, bold, lists and checklists, each undoable in one step.
Will changing a note's purpose erase it?
No. Its title, text, file format and versions stay unchanged. Only the tools and input adjustments for this note change.
Can I move notes to another device?
Public sign-in and sync are not available yet. For now, move a .notpad backup file and restore it on the other device. Local development connection checks are not a public service.
What does a backup include?
A .notpad backup includes notes, color labels, status and versions, but not notes in the trash. Restore keeps existing text and adds a copy when content differs. Backups are not encrypted; files over 200MB cannot be opened. Custom templates and writing history are not included.
Does app lock encrypt my files?
No. Face, fingerprint or device-passcode unlock covers the screen, not note or backup files. Android's immediate lock gives photo pickers, share sheets and file pickers a 30-second grace period.
How do I enable the Bible panel?
It is off by default for devotion and sermons. Enable it in Purpose tools in settings and check the translation source. Current builds include the World English Bible and Korean Revised Version, not other licensed translations. Korean source and usage conditions still need review before release.
Does the study timer send a notification?
Not yet. It shows on screen without a sound or device notification. Recording the time appends it to the note.
Where are the tools on my device?
On Mac, check note actions, the menu bar and command palette. On iPhone and iPad, check Note tools and Advanced in the note menu. On Android, check More and Advanced. The note's purpose also changes which tools come forward.
Should I send my note contents with a question?
No. Describe your device, purpose and what happened. Do not send passwords, note contents or other people's personal information. The site accepts no attachments and keeps the message and optional email for 90 days.
